Lesson 2: We're Going to the 'Ship!

Every year, a college football coach gathers his team and tells them they’re going to win the national championship!

That’s the goal. That’s the vision. That’s what gets the players fired up.

Then, after the players leave, the coaches close the office door, look at each other, and say:
"Yeah… this year, we’ll be lucky to go 5 and 7."

That’s the projection. The honest assessment of where they actually stand today.

The team still plays like they’re championship material. The coaches still work like they can build a winning program. But they also manage the realities of the season ahead.
